By: Kevin King (KTUL.com) — Oklahoma City - Ohio State freshman center Jared Sullinger was honored in Oklahoma City Monday night with the inaugural Wayman Tisdale Freshman of the Year Award.

Sullinger received the award after helping lead Ohio State to a 34-and-3 record, the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and an Elite 8 appearance.

In 37 games, Sullinger averaged 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game for the Buckeyes.

The award is named after former Oklahoma basketball star Wayman Tisdale, who was the first freshman to be named All-Amerian by the United States Basketball Writers Association after averaging 24.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.
