Dan Hinxman (RGI.com) — Of all the college sports programs in this land, few strive to be the best quite as fervently as does Ohio State and its insipid, in-your-face THE.

And that above all else explains why, this week, the Buckeyes really are No. 1.

Bad news, THE Ohio State … you have to share this distinction with a bunch of institutions that are just like you.

Winning at all costs has reached a new high in low, evident by ESPN The Magazine crowning the last year the most scandalous in college sports history.

Maybe that should be “THE most scandalous in college sports history.”

That’s quite a censure. It’s like labeling Baby Face Nelson history’s most vicious gangster.

The magazine’s cover this week features a close-up of Buckeye football coach Jim Tressel’s ever-present red vest, with the word “Busted” replacing “Ohio State” over the left breast……
